My somehow relevant comic about what people are thinking while waiting for Harry Potter in line. I put this together at StripGenerator back in July 2007.
This once again proves that everything I did in the past was gold, pure gold.

A Culture Kills Comics experiment

Last week, I was visiting Popped Culture where there was an entry about a little movement (spurred on by a New Yorker-based experiment) that you could replace the punchline of a comic with the phrase "Christ, What an asshole" and it would still work.
I thought it would be interesting to see if I could randomly pick some of my own comics and see if the principle works.

Well, for an unscientific poll, those aren't bad results. Granted, not every comic punch line can so easily be substituted. Hard to believe there was actually a time when I could write occasionally funny comics.

At one time I had a weekly comic. I miss doing it. I don't know if I will start doing it again however.
Here is one of my classics.

Created with the flash-enabled madness of Strip Generator
Bad dirty mind. Bad dirty mind.

The Pickup Line: A Culture Kills Comic

As usual, this comic developed randomly based on the two characters I chose. I don't sit down with a theme or a joke in mind. I just sort of wing it really.
And no, before anyone asks, I have never used either of the above pickup lines. If I go for a pickup, I have to be a little more clever than the first part and on some level, the second just doesn't seem to be my style. Granted, I am not a pickup artist to begin with, but I do recognize bad pickup lines when I read/hear them.

A few notes: Last week, the day before the election, Obama's grandmother died, and a group of commenters at both The Free Republic and Michelle Malkin's Blog (mostly at the former), insinuated and/or claimed that he had his grandmother killed just to get some sympathy votes in the election... well, that is reprehensible to say the least.
If it had been McCain's mother that died instead and a site like the Democratic Underground or the Daily Kos had comments similar to those regarding it, I would be savaging them. If Barbara Bush died the before the 2004 election and I read multiple people claiming that it was part of a Karl Rove strategy, I would have reacted the same way. It is wrong, it is shitty, and people need to be called out for doing it.
That being said, I have to say that for the most part, the posters on that particular entry at MM.com were relatively respectful and more than a few attacked the users who posted such speculation. This is coming from someone who has been ripped on by name by that same community at one point in time.
Also, if you've never seen 2 Girls, 1 Cup, I implore you to NOT seek it out online. I say again... if you have not seen it, don't go looking for it. Put it this way... pornstar Ron Jeremy couldn't finish watching it, it is that nasty. If you watch it after I warned you, then it is your fault, not mine.

Yeah, this is like shooting fish in a barrel at this time of year.
Maybe it was a cheap shot, but I thought it just came together so well, and it wasn't really aimed at any particular party.

I am just imagining the kind of disappointed crowd that title will bring in, because you know thousands of people have to be looking for that particular phrase
However, the title was the last part that I came up with for this comic, so don't worry... I didn't go all smutty on you... though I am more hip than the newspapers and tv networks who won't advertise Kevin Smith's new movie because it features the word porno in the title. Part of me thinks if Boogie Nights had been called Porno Valley or some such alternate title, these problems wouldn't be cropping up.

My mind is flabby and out of shape... so bear with me as I start getting back up to speed with the comics.
You'd have thought a break would have refreshed my sense of comedic timing... but alas, that doesn't seem to be the case...
...it's going to be a rough few weeks.

Now with color.

Well, I haven't been able to visit the Strip Generator for the past day, which sort of sucks because I had the outline of a comic floating around my head for the past couple of days and I was all ready to go with it last night.
So, in place of that comic, well, I am going to have to go into the archives and use a piece of material I developed for someone else.
You see, back in September, Dutchy asked me to do a guest post comic for her, and well, I didn't read her instructions as well as I should have, well, I don't think it was exactly what she was looking for, and I don't remember her actually using it (correct me if I am wrong), so on this rainy day here at Culture Kills, I thought it would be appropriate to post it.
Yeah, I remember that period. My well was starting to get empty.
And as a bonus since I am posting my supplementary comics, I also did one for Jess of Apropos of Something back in November 2006. Check it out..

My comic making mojo wasn't with me last night, so I started fresh today with a joke so old Rodney Dangerfield was telling it in utero.
I'll be here all week. Try the veal.
