Week 52: Pageant of the Transmundane

There is apparently a kangaroo named Bandit loose somewhere in the Syracuse, New York area. I smell a new reality show in the making with Smokey the bear. You just watch. It will happen.

This week's winning entry (and the final one of this Transmundane year comes to us from the wild and woolly world of Funktards.

The entry in question features the Cookie Monster in a completely new role. I think the thing that put this over the top was the placement of the cookie. That was one of those delightful little details I really appreciate. And for those of you who are keeping score, you know that Muppets + almost ANYTHING are always strong contenders for this award week after week.

And because this week's winning entry has to do with cookies, well, I felt an image of Homer with a large cookie would be the most appropriate. If you remember this particular episode, it did not end well for the cookie, a quilt or a pair of running shoes. As a sidenote, I remember way too many details from individual episodes of The Simpsons to be healthy.

Congrats Dalton. Here is the badge for this victory.

The rules of this little contest: Every week I will be selecting one blog post that I have seen from the vast reaches of the blogosphere to bestow with the Homer Simpson Transmundanity Award for being one of the freakiest(in a funny way) things I've seen or read during a 7 day period. It doesn't necessarily have to have been written during the week, I just had to have encountered it. That means that if you find something interesting and repost it like a movie or whatever, if I saw it at your blog first, you get the prize. Of course, creating your own content is also a very good way to win.

Now, if you see a post that you think is worthy of this illustrious prize, just drop me a line at campybeaver@gmail.com and we'll see if we can't get your suggestion up and award-ready while giving you some credit and a link to your own blog.

Thank you for the recognition, sir. Cookie Monster will wear this badge proudly.

that will teach those wrestlers not to steal a cookie (or even just eat one) under the nose of Cookiemonster. I don't think the garbagemonster stole too much shine away from cookiemonster though.

Dalton: The whole thing made me wonder if Chris Jericho is really just the Count in disguise (The Codebreaker indeed).

Arjan: Cookie Monster will bitchslap them all.

You could be right about Jericho, MC. I'm also almost certain that John Cena is actually Elmo. They're both annoying. They're both pushed as the top stars of their respective shows despite the fact that the fans obviously prefer other characters over them. And in the pic, Cookie Monster is twisting Cena's ankle because of all the years that Elmo has been taking the spotlight away from him. it just makes sense.

Then who is Triple H?

LOL. The funny part is this post did temporarily get me to thinking about which WWE superstar would be which Sesame Street character.

HHH could also be Elmo I guess, but Cena has that locked up. But then again, HHH could also be Big Bird because of that beak-like snout he's rockin'. Of course, Big Show is obviously Big Bird (while Great Khali is Snuffleupagus).

So that leaves Triple H being Ernie, while Shawn Michaels is Bert.

Who could Oscar the Grouch be?

Triple H being the guy Jim Henson had his hand up the ass of is perfect.

Part of me wants to say Brooklyn Brawler for Oscar, but that is really old school. But I do feel like he would be an ECW guy, so I am thinking Finlay (and the green attire is just the icing on the cake).

And if we extend this to the Muppets in general, I think Beth Phoenix would be Miss Piggy based on their general demeanor (because we have seen her smack a lot of dudes too, especially Santino).

Finlay works for Oscar, especially if we're talking grouchy, badass old-school Finlay. You know, before he got the leprechaun for a son and became a dancing, fun-loving fool. We can even extend it to say Hornswoggle is Oscar's pet worm, Slimey.

And Beth Phoenix as Miss Piggy is also a perfect match. Good thinking. So, Santino is Kermit by default? I can live with that. They both have shitloads of charisma. I can almost picture Santino singing "Rainbow Connection."

Batista is that big, seemingly roided-out blue monster. I think his name was Herry or something along those lines.

I'd almost suggest that we just collaborate on an entire post about this, but since hardly anybody watches wrestling anymore, we'd be the only ones getting the references.

I am what I like to call a reborn wrestling fan. I basically missed the entire Attitude era, and I recently rejoined the fold.

I know a couple of wrestling bloggers who might want in on such an enterprise however.

I watched my whole life, but stopped keeping up with it for the most part during the early to mid 90s. Then one night I was flipping through the channels and saw "Razor Ramon" invading WCW Monday Nitro. I was pulled back in at that moment.

The Attitude era was awesome. Too bad you missed out on it.

By the way, Umaga can be Oscar's pet elephant Fluffy.

I was thinking Santino should instead be Fozzy Bear.
