But it seems that it may indeed be remade. And you know me, I am one of those endlessly dour people when it comes to remakes, but in this rare case, I may be willing to make an exception.
You see, the people behind the push to remake Attack of the Killer Tomatoes are the same dudes behind Ask a Ninja, so in this case, I think they get it. They know what Killer Tomatoes is supposed to be, and I think that for once, they can do the premise justice.
I mean, considering some of the horrifyingly bad remakes there have been, it warms my heart to think that a comedic gem could be reborn here. I just hope there is at least a cameo for John Astin. That's all I ask.

Can a remake of "Surf Nazis Must Die" be far behind?
I liked this movie and I like ask a ninja (got myself a t-shirt ^^ )
So I hope I like their remake.
I can't wait!
Erg, I still would be apprehensive. I mean, they should be able to get it, but I thought Rob Zombie would get Halloween.
One of the producers of the movie, Steve Peace, went on to serve for nearly 20 years in the California Legislature - and was well known as a borderline insane genius. When I worked in a governmental affairs office, we used to make jokes about lobbyists who had gotten the "Steve Peace treatment." And then he became the State Director of Finance...which may explain a lot.
Actually, you might be onto something here. Why don't they quit trying to remake the good ones, and start trying to improve the bad ones?
Not that I don't have a fond place in my heart for Killer Tomatoes. But you know, you can only really keep those places for so long...
Mr. Fab: Or of Plan 9 from Outer Space?
Arjan: Looks probable to me.
Paul: I think it shouldn't take too long to make. Depends on if they go the CGI route.
Bart: I didn't think Zombie really got Halloween, because to me, the casting is the thing.
Jeff: And I also remember that Gary Conduit was an uncredited extra in one of the movies because of Peace.
Megan: Do you have a bad movie you would like to see reborn?
Nah, they'll only screw it up...
Well, with a bad movie, there is really nowhere to go but up.
