Week 12: Pageant of the Transmundane

This week, Maven from the ever wonderful Welcome to the Sanctum Sanctorum did a blogathon where she ended up doing 48 posts in a day... and well, when she posts that much over a day, weird and wild stuff sort of just materializes, and well, if something transmundane didn't emerge from that, well, then I am not doing my job as a caretaker of the oddities of blogging.

There was a lot to choose from, including a weird letter to Dan Savage involving shaving cream, the arrest of a man in a kilt for flashing and fornication and the Blue Man Group performing Baba O'Riley. But I chose something a little different.

In her twelfth entry for her blogathon, she found the first episode of a satirical Ken Burns-type documentary about cyclical non-uterine dysmenorhea or male menstrual cramps. It is the presentation that really sells this for me, as I just saw segments of the Baseball miniseries this week, so it is spot on. All it was missing was the late Shelby Foote... and they did a pretty good job picking a recognizable narrator voice

And to celebrate this win, well, I tried to find Homer looking like he was getting hit with the menstrual cramps real hard, but alas, I had to go for a more historical perspective, and go with the Da Vinci Homer for your Homer Simpson Transmundanity Award.

Congrats Maven. I am sure you weren't expecting this win, but I bet you'll take it nonetheless. It was almost the thing with shaving cream... almost. But alas, male menstrual cramps carried the day for you this week.

The rules of this little contest: Every week I will be selecting one blog post that I have seen from the vast reaches of the blogosphere to bestow with the Homer Simpson Transmundanity Award for being one of the freakiest(in a funny way) things I've seen or read during a 7 day period. It doesn't necessarily have to have been written during the week, I just had to have encountered it. That means that if you find something interesting and repost it like a movie or whatever, if I saw it at your blog first, you get the prize. Of course, creating your own content is also a very good way to win.

Now, if you see a post that you think is worthy of this illustrious prize, just drop me a line at campybeaver@gmail.com and we'll see if we can't get your suggestion up and award-ready while giving you some credit and a link to your own blog.

Whoah!!! I'm truly honored! Truly! I wasn't expecting this... I didn't pimp my site, at all --did I?

You mentioned the shaving cream thing, but it wasn't really pimping.
