Karolczak.com and Aeowolf Online have both noted that I use a plaid background, and seeing how I am just such the ambassador of tastefulness and quite dignity, I just thought I would make this subtle note: it could have been so much worse.
How you may ask?
I have Rodney Dangerfield's pants from Caddyshack and a scanner and I am not afraid to use them!
Look at them. LOOK AT THEM! You'd be better off staring at an eclipse of the sun than those things.
I also have ancient dusty tomes on 1970's furniture upholstery, the tilework created by inmates of a 16th century Bucharest mental institution for the colorblind, and Herb Tarlek's wardrobe from WKRP in Cincinnati at my disposal, so a little greenish plaid is the least objectionable thing I could probably come up with for my design. And as my landlords have admitted, it is rather distinctive, even if it isn't necessarily distinguished.
So, I think the plaid is staying. Not forever perhaps, but for the moment.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm personally a fan of plaid too (even the band MacKeel's album Plaid ;)

Normally I dislike such patterns on a webpage/blog/site, but you seemed to have implemented it quite effectively. It's just the right shade too.

Liz: When I was making it, I wasn't sure it was going to turn out, but then the right combination of filters/colors materialized and it just sort of fit. I had been looking for a background for a while, and I just tried playing with Painter 7 for a while, and I remembered the weaves they had, and so a background was born.
