...then the news that Laurence Fishburne is not returning next season and Marg Helgenberger is really pulling back from the series should make you a little happier today.
Following the departure of William Petersen, the ratings have steadily been declining, and with this further transition of main characters out of the show or the spotlight (and honestly, they may not be the only ones pulling out of the franchise), it seems that the series may be approaching its logical conclusion in the upcoming season.
As someone who at one point watched the new episodes, I have to admit that I stopped watching around the time Petersen left, since of he was the center of that show and I honestly think that perhaps the show has run its course.
I know CBS, with their problems on another one of their top series, wouldn't want to lose CSI, but I think the show's days are numbered. The move to Wednesdays at 10 is likely going to also negatively effect the show, which will speed up its demise. And that is probably a good thing.
