I am not an Ogre, and yet I still look green

Why am I green... because I am getting sick of Shrek.

I think the best comparison the Shrek franchise has to a real world object is a train. I mean, when you doing most things, and something isn't going right, you generally stop while things aren't too bad, but it is hard to stop a train, and as a mode of transportation, well, they have been known to occasionally derail, especially when the earlier part of one's journey has been pleasant.

Why am I bringing this up now? There are going to be two more sequels. It doesn't matter that Shrek the Third is getting bad reviews, there are going to be two more films in the series, with the next installment being scheduled for 2010.

I don't know if that is a promise or a threat. And this is coming from someone who liked the first two movies. I just feel like they are slowly destroying something I really enjoyed by continuing with these sequels and all the frakkin' commercials with Shrek characters... GAH!

And somehow I have a feeling that Eric Idle isn't going to be involved either.

Hmm...I agree with you. The second one was my favorite and while the third one had a few chuckles, it seemed rather forced and tired.

#1 - Shrek ws cool the first time around and bearable but mostly not the second time around...
but the merchandising has gone crazy. I agree there is too much green everywhere when one of their movies pops up and all the green is usually tied to the Shrek empire. it's sad.

#2 your link isn't working for the Eric Idle thingy

Mr. Fab: I have a feeling they aren't going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel in those sequels... they are going to be digging a tunnel to China through the mud beneath the barrel.

Mayren: The thing that really caused something to break in my head was the new HP commercials starring Fiona.

Yanno, It isn't easy being green.

And that is sort of funny coming from one green blogger to another.

Agreed the cross merchandising is way overboard, and I am getting sick of all these movies having hundreds of tie-ins.

I thought the Spiderman tie-ins were crazy, but the Shrek stuff is way overboard. This stuff further makes me hate marketing and advertising.

I have to disagree with Eric 'Wreck-Gar' Idle, these movies are parodies, as such recycle old jokes.

And you know that more companies are going to get on board for the sequels because a cash cow is a cash cow, no matter what it is.
