More Stuff on My sidebar: Culture Kills Music

I've always been a fan of netradio, from the wonderful heyday of Gogaga through KRCW's golden internet age through Live365 and into the Launchcast era.

With that in mind, I was just over at Stupid People Shouldn't Breed and I noticed not only a nice posting about this new music player for blogs, but her created station in her sidebar, and it wasn't until I saw it in action that I was intrigued enough to check out the program, especially since it is a player a user has to start, so only people interested in hearing what I've got on my playlist will start it playing.

So I signed up, though I was initially a little disappointed when I started doing my artist searches.

Broadcast-No
St. Etienne-No
Stereolab-No
Bjork-No
Radiohead-No
Belle and Sebastian-No
Beck-No
The Smiths-No

So I finally gave up trying to search and used the Browse function and put together a quick playlist in about 10 minutes.

Given the limited selection of music in the areas that I really like, I managed to salvage an ok playlist out of what was there:

Nirvana - Dumb
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
The Bravery - An Honest Mistake
Queen - We Will Rock You
DJ Shadow - Organ Donor
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
Rilo Kiley - Accidntel Deth
Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous
Black Eyed Peas - Weekend(The Only BEP song I love)
Stevie Wonder - Superstition
Beastie Boys - Hey Ladies
Beastie Boys - Triple Trouble
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood
Bob Marley - Get Up Stand Up
Bob Marley - No Woman No Cry (Live At The Roxy)
Bob Marley - Could You Be Loved
Mogwai - auto rock (errors remix)
Mogwai - Folk Death 95
mogwai - Close Encounters
Alice In Chains - Would

I'm not complaining really, because after all it is free, and I am probably not going to be sued for having it. But I do hope that they get a wider selection as the months go by.

Try Pandora. It bases the playlist off music you already know and like while introducing you to some new artists.

See, the only problem with Pandora is it doesn't like Canadians(or other international users), so I can't make a station aside from a temporary one.

But I did fix my firewall to let me listen to my Launch station now. :D
